A Blue Zone is an area where the population is known for its longevity. Five areas of the world have been identified as Blue Zones by scientists: the Greek island of Ikaria, Okinawa island in Japan, the Nicoya peninsula in northwestern Costa Rica, Loma Linda in California and the island of Sardinia, in Italy.
Some researchers consider the phenomena as due to genetics, while many consider factors such as activity and diet as playing a fundamental role. No doubt, all these factors are involved, but living in Sardinia has made me draw my own conclusions. I moved here at a time of turmoil in my own life, but opening myself up to the natural elements of the island, I felt the particular energy of this Blue Zone. The really special qualities of the natural environment strengthenedthe process of internal renewal that I was going through. It was amazing!
I felt especially the great peace of this area, Teulada, and decided that here in the Mediterranean environment of deep, rich colours, wild fruit and olive trees, vineyards and sea, rocks and wild animals was where Sentidu should be based.
You can feel at home here.
The simple fact that of getting away from your every-day environment will allow you to get closer to yourself. While you watch the sea and the sky, with the aroma of myrtle in the air, you will feel like you are at the centre of the world. The sea breeze will take away the old and bring in the new, helping you to understand who you are and how to really live your life.
There is something in the air in Sardinia.
It’s not for nothing that so many of us here live so long, and so well.
